It's All Over Now, Baby Blue

Posted on Jun 6th, 2006 by Jon : Billionaire Jon

So I'm putting the final touches on what might be the last academic paper I'll ever write.  After three years of school, I'm about to go to my last class at the Anderson School and wrap up my MBA degree.  It's been a fun ride and I've learned a lot and made a ridiculous number of good friends.  And while I'm glad to be done I'll also admit that it's a little bit bittersweet.  School, whether it be high school, college or grad school is such an amazing time of life.

As I sit here the shuffle on my mp3 player has found it's way over to Bob Dylan's "It's All Over Now, Baby Blue."  I can't think of a more appropriate tune to listen to as I end this part of my life.  And I revel at a world in which this song would just happen to play during my last keystrokes of my last paper of my last class in my last quarter of my graduate degree.

Leave your stepping stones behind, something calls for you.
Forget the dead you've left, they will not follow you.
The vagabond who's rapping at your door
Is standing in the clothes that you once wore.
Strike another match, go start anew
And it's all over now, Baby Blue.

I guess it's indeed time to go strike another match and start anew.

:)

Books written by billionaires?

Posted on Jun 14th, 2006 by Jon : Billionaire Jon

With all of the "creating wealth" books out there I'm curious...how many books have actually been written by billionaires?

Gates has written a couple as has Buffett.  But I'm guessing there are a lot of other books written by billionaires.  Has anyone ever seen a list of these?  I'd be curious to see what else is out there.

A Podcast to Change the World

Posted on Jun 20th, 2006 by Jon : Billionaire Jon

Thought this would be appropriate and relevant to the Zaadzsters here:

After months of hard work by dozens of dedicated people, I am thrilled to announce the official launch of Social Innovation Conversations, the latest channel from The Conversations Network. Social Innovation Conversations’ mission is to expand the reach of important and valuable knowledge to people who otherwise wouldn’t have access to it by recording and sharing the spoken words of thought leaders in all sectors and disciplines and offering listeners a multi stakeholder perspective on the world grand challenges and social issues.

The new channel is a collaboration of the Center for Social Innovation at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the Pittsburgh Social Enterprise Accelerator. Congratulations and thanks to all.

June Update for Out Loud Learners Pod

Posted on Jun 27th, 2006 by Jon : Billionaire Jon

Here's the June Update for the Out Loud Learners Pod.

*********************************

Hey all.  I hope you're having a wonderful summer.  Just wanted to pop in with a quick update as to what's going on at LearnOutLoud and let you know about some free stuff to listen to.  June is The Month of Peace at LearnOutLoud.  As many of you know, the movie Peaceful Warrior (based on Dan Millman's book Way of the Peaceful Warrior) was released this month.  Brian Johnson, CEO here at Zaadz, interviewed Dan and if you haven't listened to it yet you'll really enjoy it.  Here's a link:

A Peaceful Warrior Brings His Zaadz to Life

In addition, our free audiobook of the month for June is James Allen's classic The Way of Peace.  You probably know James Allen best as the author of As a Man Thinketh (which we also have available for free download at LearnOutLoud).  If you liked As a Man Thinketh you'll like listening to The Way of Peace as well.

Finally, we just recently launched our new subscription service at LearnOutLoud.  If you're getting into this whole audio learning thing it's a great way to save some money and get some really cool benefits.  We have two plans you can sign up for depending on how much listening you'll be doing each month.  For the complete details on what you'll receive as one of our members, click here.

Thanks to all of you who've joined the Out Loud Learners pod (275 strong as of this writing) and remember that you can participate in the discussions that are happening here.  We're working on a lot more these days on LearnOutLoud and I'm excited to share with you some big news very soon.

OK, go back to enjoying your summer and I'll be back with another update soon!
