If you have a minute and would love to help us out...

Posted on Aug 16th, 2006 by Jon : Billionaire Jon
...we got featured on the homepage of Lifehacker again.  So we're getting some sweet traffic from that.  I noticed that someone has dugg this story as well.  If you have a minute and could vote for this story on Digg that would be sweet.  TIA!!!

P.S.  If you've never "dugg" a story before it's pretty easy.  Just create an account and then click on the button that says "Digg it!"

The Billionaire Boys and Girls Club of Southern California

Posted on Aug 16th, 2006 by Jon : Billionaire Jon

Disclaimer: The following is an invitation to be part of a very special group.  It’s certainly not for everyone and there’s a good chance it might not be for you.  That’s totally cool.  It’s possible that whether you are interested or not you might know someone else that would be.  You can feel free to pass this invitation along to them.  But it’s really important to state this upfront.  Anyone interested in joining this group must possess one thing in common:

The burning desire to become a billionaire in their lifetime and the sincere belief that they can become one.

***Announcing the first meeting of the Billionaire Boys and Girls Club of Southern California***

What: An opportunity to get together on a monthly basis with others who share the common achievable and yet extremely challenging goal of becoming a billionaire within their lifetime.

Who: Anyone who shares this goal regardless of your current net worth, profession, age, gender, etc.  As long as you feel that you’re on the path to becoming a billionaire then you’re welcome.

When: Breakfast the first Tuesday of every month.  The first meeting will take place on Tuesday, September 5th sometime around 7 AM.

Where: TBA but will likely be in West Los Angeles/Santa Monica

Why: Billionaires think different than most people.  So do people who aspire to become billionaires.  There aren’t many of us out there and given how challenging this goal is it is imperative for us to bond together and help each other out.  If you’re a big dreamer and want to spend at least a couple of hours each month surrounded by other big dreamers then you won’t want to miss this.

What You Need To Do: If you’re interested in becoming a part of the Billionaire Boys and Girls Club please RSVP by sending an e-mail to jon at learnoutloud dot com or a private message here.  This will help us get a sense of numbers so that we can pick an appropriate venue (although I don’t anticipate this group being very large).  Also, as mentioned previously if you know of someone who might be interested in becoming a part of this group please feel free to forward this on to them (but also please be very selective in who you forward it to).

Three Questions

1.  Isn’t it almost impossible to become a billionaire?  In 2006 Forbes counted almost 800 billionaires worldwide.  Merely 20 years earlier (in 1986) there were only 140.  That’s almost a six-fold increase in just two decades.  My guess is that a couple of decades from now there will be thousands, if not tens of thousands, of billionaires on the planet.  Why not be a part of that group?  Of course having said that it’s obvious that becoming a billionaire is incredibly challenging.  That’s one the main reasons we’re putting this group together.

2.  Isn’t it bad to strive to become a billionaire?  I’m of the firm conviction that it’s not how much money you’ve earned but rather how you’ve earned your money and what you do with the money that you’ve earned that’s important.  Billionaires do tremendous good in the world including incredible charitable work (e.g., The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation), funding start-up companies, etc.  In addition, they would not have become billionaires unless they added a tremendous amount of value to peoples’ lives in the first place.  One of the main obstacles we need to strive to overcome are any negative associations we have with creating wealth.

3.  What does it take to become a billionaire?  Obviously there isn’t any short answer to this question.  Actually this is going to be one of the central questions that we’ll be discussing when we meet.  To get started, I’d recommend checking out the Forbes 400 list at http://www.forbes.com/400richest.  Reading the stories of the wealthiest men and women on the planet is one of the best ways to start to adopt the billionaire mindset.  We’ll discuss many other things during the meetings that we can all do to realize this goal.

If you have any questions about The Billionaire Boys and Girls Club please let me know.

I hope to see you on September 5th.

Sincerely,

Jon

I've been putting this off for too long now and it's time to do it.  Who wants to do this sometime in the next few weeks?

I love The Hype Machine.  It's a great way to discover new music and see what's hot in the music blogosphere.

Rhapsody has been down for me today so I'm doing a lot of cool new exploring. :)
